Record R Der. cages: Can I switch out medium for short?

I've got a medium cage rear derailleur and would not mind at all putting on a short cage piece, (all of this is for '03 Campy Record, by the way). Is this possible? I'm looking at their spare parts catalog and it looks like there might be a pretty easy way to do it, but I'm wondering if anyone has done such things before.

I have done a 'cage change' in the past. I dont recall the type of derailleur but something like that certainly is feasable. Its much more difficult and aggravating than it looks. Your odds of cosmeticly damaging the derailleur are high. There should be no mechanical reason for switching to a short cage. My advice is stay with what you have.
