It really just depends on how bent it is and how many times it's been straightened before.
I've done minor aligning on many, many aluminum frames, both with and without replaceable hangers, and have yet to break one. I do keep in mind that aluminum only has so many fatigue cycles in it and always go slowly.
As for heating it...I don't see how you'd accomplish that in a way that it wouldn't defeat the heat-treating and soften the metal.
