tire question
I am replacing the tires on my very old road bike. It had sew-ups on it and 10 years ago I converted it to clinchers. I have 700x25C on there now but they are 10 years old. What sizes can I use (23?) and there are so many choices out there I would like a suggestion or two. Over 50, slow, not looking for any flat or grip problems. Day riding in western NC. Not especially price sensitive but don't want to buy something I'll never appreciate.
Thanks All!
Mike

I put the Forte GT2 Kevlar road tires on an old Schwinn I just refurbished. They come in 700x25 for $14.99 at Performance Bike Shops. Only have about 100 miles on them so far but I've been through some sharp rocks and glass and haven't flatted yet.

You have a ton of tire options. One recommendation is Continental Gatorkins for flat free riding for ages. They're not the best at the higher end of performance (not designed to be) but are a reliable, high mileage tire.
As for sizing you can ride anything from, say 700x23 (23x622) to 700x28 (28x622). You should have zero fit problems or brake clearance issues. You could probably also run fenders if you felt like it.
