Hi all, I have a 1991 trek 2300 pro that I am stripping down to repaint and refinish. I have never removed all the components on the bike completely before, but the only piece that I have left is the crankset/bottom bracket. There are bolts on either side of the bottom bracket which I have removed, but that is as far as I have gotten. The crankset is a shimano 600 that I believe came stock on the frame. I'm having trouble removing the crankset/bottom bracket.
Any help would be appreciated!
To remove the arms, you need a puller. Similar to the link-
I believe in 1991, these Treks still came with cup-and-cone bottom brackets (my '92 1420 and '93 Trek 7000 both did) so you will need a lockring tool, a pin spanner and a fixed cup wrench to remove it. You will need a crank arm puller to remove the arms before getting to the bottom bracket.
Check Park Tools web site for instructions on using both the crank puller and the tools for removing the bottom bracket.
