can't downpedal from the right
I was picking up some speed last night on the bike, when out of nowhere I become stuck in pre-downpedal motion on the right pedal. I finished the remainder of the ride with my left foot, using back and forth pedaling to get to my destination.
I realized there was a bunch of gunky build up on my chain and derailer. So, i cleaned them up tonight and hope to reassemble and reunite with my bike tomorrow.
Does this gunk seem like it might have been contributing to the problem or am I in for a rude awakening once my bike's pieced back together?
Thanks

I think it is a possibility that you have fixed the problem...
A few things to check. Does the crank turn all the way around now? Can you wiggle it around at all? Does everything else move freely, like the jockey wheels etc?
The best way to have detected would have been to move the crank bqack and forth by hand before taking it apart to see where the hangup was happening, but I wouldn't expect any surprises unless something seems to stick when moved by hand...

This is all a bit odd, but if the chain was moving without issue in the other part of the stroke, I would say that this issue is probably not the pully wheels, but somewhere else in the system that would cause the stoppaged. Two things that come to mind are that possibly the crank was hitting the front derailleur, or that their is a frozen link in the chaing that is causing a kink that stops the chain from moving through the rear derailleur.
