frame transfers

Whats the best way to remove old transfers from the frame without damaging the paint job ?

get the denatured stuff (SLX)
(yes 100 proof vodka will work)

UNLESS your transfer is under a clear coat, then it's practically impossible.

100 proof vodka is only 50% ethanol (as is anything 100 proof). Even Everclear (180 proof) is only 95% ethanol. You can make 200 proof ethanol (100%) but it's not easy or cheap.

Assuming that a transfer is a decal, I've taken some off in the past...inadvertently...with a high pressure car wash. Like you said, if it's under the paint, leave it alone unless you want a new paint job.
