New wheels, cassette, chain
Bought a new set of wheels, but plan to keep the old ones just in case. The old cassette and chain have about 1,000 miles on them - they are still in good shape, but not new.
I was planning on just buying a new cassette for the new wheels exactly like the old cassette (SRAM 12-26) and leave the old on on the old wheel for if/when I use that wheel.
Do you think I should use a new chain too or just replace it when it wears out? The old chain is still within spec as far as stretch goes.
Would it be better just to leave the old chain with the old wheel/cassette and use it if/when I use the old wheel?
My thinking is this: I'll leave the old cassette on the old wheels so if/when I use them, it should be a pretty quick change. Do you think I'll have significant adjustments for the derailleur and shifting, or will it be plug-n-play since the cassettes are identical?
Never done this before (two wheel sets), but know how to deal with chains and cassettes.

I think it's up to you. I've been able to rotate between 3 different sets of wheels with the same or different cassettes with no adjustments needed (except the computer sensor position). whether or not you'll need to adjust the rear derailleur will depend mostly on the difference if any in the hubs. As for the chain, I replace by the time it reaches 12 1/16th" over a 24 pin interval.
