cool stop brake pads

Ok, so i got a new set of Reynolds Carbon wheels yesterday. Put the cool stop green pads on my DA brakes and now I am confused. The KS pads have a dramatic curve to them. So that if I adjust the pads so there is no rub at the back of the pad.. the front of the pad is like 1/4" away from the rim. Is this normal? Is there a toe in adjustment I need to make? Is this a design feature of KS pads?

The brake pad is adjustable where it attaches to the bolt. This interface often becomes tight and you may need to "tweak" it pretty good to work it loose. Then you will be able to align the pad with the rim.
Be sure the pads are pointed the correct direction for wheel rotation.

Kool Stop pads are designed to contact the braking surface with the rear of the pads first, to wipe away water, mud, dirt and debris and provide more effective braking. If you look at a pair of new Kool Stops you will see that the pads are thicker at the rear.

I believe the front and back of the pad are meant to contact the rim at the same time. That gives squeegee action in the back and toe-in at the front.
