FD Suggestion - 31.8 36T/50T?

I bought a braze-on adapter for a Shimano 600 and Sugino 36/50 double compact crank. The FD doesn't reach far enough. - it's aligned with the small ring when fully extended. Any suggestions on a lower priced clamp on FD that will work - and a good vendor that sells it? Thanks!

That sounds like a goofy problem to me. Makes me wonder about some other things.

1. How's your chainline? Are you sure you have the right bottom bracket spindle? If you put a yard stick between your two chainrings it should hit right in the middle of your cassette.

2. Are you sure the high limit screw in your derailleur isn't screwed in too far?

3. What are you using for a shifter? Before connecting the shift cable did you make sure that your shifter was in it's lowest gear position?

And the answer is #2 - DOH!

Thanks.

BTW - I picked up the frame on the way home tonight and almost nothing is mounted (e.g. fork). I'm either using some new Modolo Morpheus STI or a Rivendel bar end adaptor with DA or suntour acushift 7 speed indexed DT levers. I picked up a Dave Scott Ironman Centurian on ebay last night and will use the remaining shifters on it (with a Shimano 7 megarange 11-28T). I'm leaning toward the bar ends.
