Bottom bracket stupid question

my bottom bracket has about 1cm or 1/2" of lateral play its the old fashioned type non sealed, can I replace it with a cartridge type?

Most likely, yes. It depends on the frame, but you should be able to find something that will work. What kind of frame is it?

Just take a few minutes to adjust it, its a simple adjustment.

You might want to grease the bearings while your at it and it'll work good as new.
