I have a question about the sounds made in a freehub. I have a new bike with Mavics and the rear wheel is almost quiet, kinda acool. My older bike has Rolphs which are very very loud click click click....it sounds cool for other reasons. My question is, is one better than the other and why such a huge difference?
Is one faster?

DT Swiss 240s hubs are very quiet, and they are one of the best hubs on the market. I don't know that I'm any faster on these wheels, but the engagment of the star ratchet system is definitely smoother than the hubs using pawls (no thud when force is applied to pedals from rest). Anyway, I wouldn't worry too much about sounds unless it gets so loud that your hub obviously needs cleaning/lube.
