Need a Tube suggestion, some reason new tubes loosing pressure

I just installed some new rims I've had for a while (mavic x517) about 2 weeks ago, I used Velox cloth tape and the only Presta valved tubes I can find at my LBS is Bontanger. I went ahead and bought them and installed them, but in 2 weeks time with just light paved trail riding they both have lost about half there pressure. I checked the presta valve there both tight, and I don't see any glass or other debris in either tire.

Can someone recommend a decent but economical 1.5 - 2.0 Presta tube, I mainly ride paved trails right now, but plan to do some light off road riding, but nothing to extreme.

Thanks in advance

That sounds about right, actually. Tubes don't hold the high-pressures of bike tires all that well. I try to pump mine up about every two or three days.

Heh I guess I was just lucky with my old schrader valve tubes, I can't remember who made them but they seemed to hold air for a very long time.

My main problem is I really need to get a new pump, I have a cheapo right now, and it's hard to get it over 40 PSI lol.

"operator" was correcting the grammar of your thread title. You used the word "loosing" (which can apply to arrows; i.e., arrows are loosed) as opposed to losing. Welcome to BikeForums.

My road bike tires lose about 10 pounds overnight, don't think I'd worry if I were you. I would suggest ponying up the bucks to get a decent floor pump though.

Oops, I've gotten a bit to comfortable with Firefox, spell checking that I sometimes don't read what I write

I plan on getting one soon hopefully, I just don't know what I want yet, I need to take a spin by the LBS and see what they sell there. Chances are good they won't have much as they are pretty small. I'd be open to some suggestions for a pump as well.

What pressure are you using? I run 65-70 psi in my 26x1.5" with cheap Schraeder tubes and only lose a couple PSI/week.

Don't know what you have but high pressure road tires need to be pumped up before each ride.
If you think you have a hole in a tube, pull the tube off the bike, put some air in it and hold it under water until you find air bubbles escaping.

I'm running about 50 PSI, as I still roll on Panaracer Dart and Smoke tires. I'm still looking at tires, and deciding on what kind of riding I want to do more till I get a second bike, or an extra set of rims.

I only use Joe Blow floor pumps and Blackburn frame pumps. Both excellent products across their entire lineup.
