What does 66 degree chainstay mean?

    Hi everyone,

Can someone kindly explain - in lesser detail is fine - what 66 degree chainstay means? In relation to a Shimano Deore XT front derailleur.

For someone replacing a front and rear derailleur on a mtb, what does it mean?

    Thanks!
    Michael

I believe it refers to the angle between the chainstays and the seat tube. The orientation of the front derailleur cage relative to the chainrings and chain will vary with this angle.
