seat post size

I recently picked up a Raleigh super grand prix and was looking to replace the seat post but I am unsure of the size. Sheldon Browns site says its 25.4 and I was just curious if anyone out there can confirm this. Thanks.

Take the frame to your LBS. They should have the tool to measure the diameter.

You can also look carefully at the old set post. Sometimes the diameter will be inscribed on it near the minimum insertion line.

Thanks for the help. After some vigorous scrubbing on the seat post Ive determined the size to be 26.6.
