Does Schalbe easy fit tire mounting fluid help to center a tire better?

Does the above fluid really help to center a tire better by facilitating the tire beads to glide better onto the rim bead seat? Or is it just a sales gimmick ? Can I use soap or vaseline instead?
Thanks

I just use soapy water, that will evaporate. Vaseline or something like that will stay on there . Similar to putting a hose on a tight hose fitting to me, soapy water will go away and the hose will stay in place, grease will make it just as easy to come off when you don't want it too.

I would never use Vaseline or other oil or grease. If you need help mounting a tire, use soapy water.

I use talcum powder or baby powder in those situations. Works for me.

By the way, if it's a 26" tire you may need to put 100 psi + in it to get it to seat properly the first time. Mine are rated for 56 psi and I put over 100 in them to make sure I got rid of the "flat spot" in the tire. This is also per Sheldon Brown so not my idea. (disclaimer)
