Shimano nexus shifter mounting
What are you all doing to mount these shifters on drop bars (threaded fork)? I have an old pair of 22.2mm grip steel drops that I would love to put one of these shifters on, but I understand the housing won't allow for bringing it up flush with the stem. I know about the HubBub adaptor, but am uninterested. I've heard of people cutting the bars, installing, and then somehow gluing them back together, but I can't see how this would work well. Would grinding a bit off the bars at the tight turns work?
My last resort is to replace with a threadless fork and mount a second stem with a short piece of straight bar above the drops, but this seems like too awkward a solution.

Contact Jtek and see if their shiftmate adapter for nexus hubs is for sale yet. Was supposed to be ready along time ago. You would be able to use regular dropbar shifters with your hub.
One guy on here sawed off a little of his drop bar, then epoxied a small section of mountain bar in the end. This is what I plan on doing as I find the Hubbub inordinately expensive.
Thanks for the leads. Here's another idea: This bike is a city commuter, and typically I use it only in the "touring" position on the brake hoods. Any idea if the shifter would slide on around the more gentle 90 degree turn if I sawed them off where they start to drop??
Probably I should just find a shop that stocks them and see how much play there is in it...
