    Painting cable housing...

Anyone done it? Can anyone think of any reason why it shouldn't be done or won't work?

It flexes every time you use the brake or shifter so the paint will flick off. If you want colored cable housing use heat shrink tubbing available in lots of colors. Just slip it over the housing and use a heat *** to shrink it.

Something like the Jagwire would be great, but it looks like they're for mountain bikes. Know if anyone makes similar colored cables for road bikes?

Cable housing is cable housing, there's a difference between brake and shifter, but if there's a difference between road and MTB I've yet to find it.

There are some different diameters, and of course they can be lined or not, but that's it.
