So I bought some Answer Sythe CF 20" forks for my BMX build. The steer tube is like ~3 or so inches too long. Last bikes I built had the old school threaded steer tube. So with the new threadless style, is it common to just cut the steer tube? Is this done via pipe cutter and just spin it around and keep tightening it until the cut is made? Any advice on this project is appreciated.
I was thinking of cutting it a bit longer than needed. Figuring a bit longer is better than too short (useless)? Then maybe I'll look for some small spacers to fill any little gap.
Am I on track or way off here? Thanks!
