Cone adjustment for SA AW three speed

Okay, so Sheldon says that there should be a little play at the rim when a SA hub is adjusted correctly. Another friend who has spent a lot of time with three speeds swears that you can remove all play, as with a normal hub. I currently have it adjusted so that there is play, and in fact, could not adjust it to remove play when I set the wheel up. As a consequence, I feel like I get a fair amount of vibration from the wheel when coasting - I can feel it through the frame. Any thoughts from you three-speeders?

It should be loose enough so that the cranks don't turn by themselves when you're coasting. That usually results in a tiny bit of play, but if you get it just right it's not so much.

Why couldn't you adjust it where there was no play?

I used this guys adjustment method and it worked fine for me. There is a little bit of play, but it isn't noticable.

As I recall (and I may be mis-remembering), it came down to the cone and anti-rotation washer. The washer only allows four positions for the cone, 90, 180, 270, etc. I'm pretty sure I had the left side maxed out in terms of tightening, so no option there. I might be missing something.
