French stem in non-French headset?
I find myself in possession of a French Atax stem and bars. When I tighten the wedge down in the non-French headset, everything seems to work fine. Can I do it, or am I fooling myself?

I've done it with no problems. A French stem is .2mm undersize. There will be some extra space between the locknut and the stem that will let water go where it shouldn't, so it won't be a good rain bike.

Coke can material is about 0.2 mm. Cut a shim for the stem & enjoy life.

My mistake.
Coke can material is 0.1 mm, so a complete 360 degree shim will take up 0.2 slack.
