Rear Derailleur/Chainrings Issue
On my road bike... The shifting works great on both the front and rear derailleurs, however my problem seems to be on the third smallest chainring in the rear. When the chain is on that ring, I feel some roughness in the pedaling. I just doesn't feel smooth like all the other gears. Almost like the chain is not landing in the exact right position on the chainring. When I flip the bike upside down(I don't have a work stand), and spin the pedals in the problem gear, I can see the rear derailleur slightly "bouncing".
Is there a quick fix to this? I've brought it to my LBS, and they've told me it was fixed... but it's not. Like I say, the shifting works perfect, so I don't think it's anything to do with cable tension. But I'm open to suggestions. Thanks in advance, hopefully I've been descriptive enough.

Not just the cog, the cassette or freewheel. Most shops do not sell just cogs.

If you get a new cassette, you might need a new chain, too. How many miles on cassette/chain, more or less?

Don't judge anything in the drivetrain with the bike upside down.
With the chain on the problem cog (it's not a ring) try adjusting the shift cable slightly by turning the barrel adjuster (found at the rear derailleur) slightly, 1/4 to 1/2 turn.

The bike only has about 700-800 miles on it, so I don't think it would be time for a new cassette yet, right. Would the B-tension screw have anything to do with it? Or should I just adjust the barrel adjuster until it's just right?

Check derailleur hanger alignment, too.

Nothing should be worn out by 700-800 miles, unless you ride on that one cog constantly. I doubt it.
