Creaky Crank
I'm riding a Stevens Strada 600 - all Tiagra. After a spring tuneup I started getting noise from the crank area on the left side downstroke. I could feel it in my foot too so I thought it was the pedal, Wellgo two side. Replaced the pedals with Shimano M324. Better pedals by far but the noise didn't go away.
Took the bike to a different LBS and the mechanic immediately said the crank wasn't properly torqued. He fixed the problem and I was in heaven.
That was two weeks ago. The creak is back, this time at the bottom of the stroke on the left side but not as bad. Could the problem be with the bolts not being able to hold their torque? Should I change the bolts or just have the things torqued again?
Thanks in advance.

Go back to the same mechanic. We'd just be guessing.

It could also be the BB cups.

Yeah, I've got a BB that creaks due to being ridden around all winter. I can't seem to keep it lubed.
But go back to the mechanic. It sounds like he knows what he's doing.

You'll need to retorque the crank bolts. If it doesn't stay tight, the crank arm is probably shot.

Problem solved.
Went back to the mechanic and explained the problem. Maybe the BB adapter is loose. So he took off the pedals, removed and re-greased the BB and put everything back together, all while I was watching (what service, Foster's Bank St.). then he went for a test ride. Creak all gone.
So, for anyone's future reference, make sure the BB and the crank are properly torqued.
