Creaky, Squeaky Noise from Bottom Bracket??
The last two days, Ive noticed a squeaky, creaky noise that I believe is coming from my bottom bracket. It only makes the noise when I pedal and the faster I pedal the more frequent and more creaky it sounds.
I ride a Giant Cypress with about 600 miles on it. Does anyone have an idea of what this is???

In the right lane
I always wonder how you know it's the bottom bracket and not your chainring or something else. Every time I suspect a bottom bracket is in trouble, I find lubing the chain always helps. So, how do you tell?

I have a Giant Cypress and have around 3k on it... I notice a sqeaking noise every so often when pedaling... I stand up and pedal.. If the sqeaking is still there I know it;s something at the bottom, if I don't hear it and so far I haven't, I know it is the seat making the noise... I spay a little Tri Flow on the metal parts underneath the seat and it goes away for awhile again..

After riding about 70 mile this weekend--here are a few observations:
--The noise is more like a tink-tink-tink sound.
--It is clearly coming from the pedalling action
--I took one foot out of the clipless and pedaled--no sound. It took the other out and pedaled and --no sound. It only sounds with both feet in pedals and while pedalling.
--The tink-tink-tink sound is made when my right foot is extended in the down stroke and when my left is upstroke. IT seems that one tink is made with the right side and the other tink is made with the left foot.
--THe faster I pedal, the more it tinks.

It could be the Headset bearings, the saddle, the seatpost were checked....the sound seems to come from the bottom bracket. I even removed and reinstalled the Dura Ace BB cups...twice. Clean and lube the headset...I had checked everthing else twice, and just did the headset on a lark....I couldn't believe the HS was the problem
