brand new stiff new tire, keep pinching tubes
I got a brand new Vredstein fortezza tire that I'm having trouble installing. I can get the second bead into the rim for the most part, it's just the last 1/5th or so of the tire that is too stiff to work on by hand. I have to use tire levers, it's absolutely impossible to get it on by hand. Whenever I use a tire lever though, I always end up pinching the tube and have to start all over. I've gone through 5 tubes, is there anything that can help?
I was wondering if I should let all the air out of the tube before I start to use the tire levers, or vice versa.

You should let the air out of the tire for the last bit. Especially if they are narrow road tires in the 23 range.
I've yet to come across a tire that could not be put on with the proper technique and tire levers.

Put some air in the tube, and use baby powder or talc to prevent the levers from pinching the tube. If you can, try to get the tire on the rim by rolling the last part over the rim.

Also, when you get to the last little bit of the second bead, go back to the opposite side of the tire and pinch the two beads together. What you are trying to do is to make sure those beads are pushed into the low center of the rim rather than seating against the relatively higher edges. That will give you a tiny bit more space to force the bead over the rim. Usually a tiny bit is all that you need.

Let the air out of the tyre for the last section, and this will stop pinching

i jam my thumbs up and back into the tubes. this way i can point my fingers straight out in front to split the wind and attain an even more aero profile, and the usual fixed gear - zen - connectedness feeling through the drivetrain is multiplied ten fold because my thumbs become one with the tubing.

Let out the air, and maybe even try to pinch the tire beads down into the spoke channel except for the last bit of bead to be mounted. But then make sure the bead is back where it should be as you inflate. You can do that by making sure the marks on the sidewall are in the same position all the way around the rim.

I got it on alright, I just had to make sure ALL the air was out of the tube. Also pushing the beads on the opposite side of the tire really helped as well. Thanks everyone
