New gruppo on an older Italian frame
I recently happened upon the frame referenced in this thread:
https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vintage/423579-paletti-id-help.html
(no slagging on my seat angle: I was breaking in the Brooks and I always think they feel better for the first few hundred miles when set like that)
After riding it fixed for a bit now, I think it's telling me that it wants to have gears. It was originally set up with Super Record cica 1984. I am inclined to grab one of these campy gruppo/wheelsets sets here:
https://txcyclesport.com/Merchant2/me...factory_wheels
Will the group please share it's collective wisdom as to what sort of things could go wrong in building the bike up with that (much newer) group? I've never done a conversion like this, and I'd like to avoid buying things that won't work.
Rear dropout spacing?
Will the new campy bb style work on older frames?
Are brazed derailleur hangers a standard size?
I am sure there are a zillion other things I am not thinking of. I appreciate your advice!
(edited for the proper group link)

Any idea what the BB threading is? Italian?
Obviously you'll have to re-space the rear triangles.

I presume you'll want new brifters? Brake pull ratio might be something to check.

Yeah, I'm intending to use the ergo levers of what ever group I go with. So if I stay with a matched caliper/brifter set, I should be set right?

Only if the mounting bolt/hole is in the same place.

Hole for calipers? A set of brifters and calipers designed for a road bike should more or less fit any normal mid-size fork/bars right? If it makes any difference, I dropped a set of Modolo brakes on with zero problem.
