Rear Deraillur Cable

I had to change out my rear deraillur and the cable shroud is too short to reach, different model, but the cable is lone enough. Can I get a longer piece of shroud from my LBS or do I have to swap the whole cable out?

Thanks,

John

Just need new housing, sold by the foot at cycle shops, with $1/foot being the previous
range. Just make sure it is shifter housing and NOT brake housing.

This is always a good time to re-cable and replace housing. It's cheap and you should do it somewhat regularly.

My whole system was just re cabled, that is why I didn't want to have to replace an essentially new cable, less than a month old.

Always replace the shift cable housings when replacing the shift cables. The housings are at least as important as the cables for shifting performance.

new derailer = new cable , but its just a buck or two for a new cable so no big deal.
