Discs + long pull road levers

The Avid BB7 road brakes work with regular levers, I know, but it occurred to me that if cable pull is the only issue, using long pull road levers intended for use with V brakes could allow for a wider choice of disc brakes - pretty much any mechanical disc brake. Is there any technical reason this couldn't work? Could it affect braking performance?

Reason this comes up is I'm building up a new bike (in my mind, currently, but in reality soon enough) and at this point I'm thinking disc in the front, V in the back, and I only want to buy one pair of levers, and I'd like to avoid a Travel Agent on the V if possible.

Thanks!

Disc brakes (other than the special ratio road disc) and v brakes use the same lever so you would be good. The new Tektro RL520 drop bar levers have been out for a little over a month and are generally available by now.

I just installed some RL520s this week on my Kona. One practical disadvantage I found compared with the MTB style flat bar levers is I no longer have a barrel adjuster. I have a BB5 on my rear and a shimano deore mechanical disc up front. The BB5 only has adjustment for the pad on the inside with an awkward barrel adjuster just before the caliper. The deore has no barrel adjuster at all.

I imagine the disc brake designs assumed inline barrel adjusters on flat bar levers.

Basically I can't fine tune my brakes while riding along. Kind of lame, but the comfort and handling improvement I gained will off set that. Ergonomically the Tektro RL520 are awesome. Best $20 I've spent in a long while.

In-line barrel adjusters for road levers or brifters are readily available. Nashbar, among many others, has them.

Cool - makes sense such a gizmo would exist. With STI or other road levers with wrapped cables, where would I put these? On my Kona I've have cable housing 100% of the way from the brake hood to the disc brake caliper.

Do you cut the housing in two and splice with these inline adjusters?

PS - sorry to have hijacked this thread.
