Where to find part numbers online

I need to find the part number for the cable clamp assembly for a Shimano XT M771 rear derailleur. Is there anywhere to find that online?

Thanks!

I looked it up on QBP and part number DP8362 should work- most of your local shops should order from QBP.

Thanks, I looked it up in a QBP catalog too at the local shop and they showed a picture of DP8362. The picture doesn't match. It could just be that they changed the part though.

I was just looking at a few different cable anchor assemblies online and they all show the same pictures. I bet they just use a generic picture in the catalog and I should order DP8362.

Thanks for your help!

For anyone that ends up here from a search, here's the exploded view of the M771 from Shimano:

https://techdocs.shimano.com/media/te...9830625641.pdf

The bolt and clamp is listed, (DP8362) but not the nut, which is the part I really need. The nut doesn't appear on the drawing at all.

I called Shimano. They tell me the part isn't available aftermarket. To get the nut that the cable clamp assembly screws into, I'll have to buy a new rear derailleur.

Not sure if I understand you correctly.
I looked at the link you provided and don't see anything listed as DP8362???
Are you talking about a nut for screw #4? IF so, it would just be a 5MM nut, since it's a 5MM screw. (8MM long)

I thought it was DP8632, but it's not. The number I need is Y-5W598030 along with the nut which has no part number and is unavailable. Shimano told me on the phone earlier that the nut is considered part of the derailleur body and isn't available.

It is really just a nut, but with a weird shape so it fits into a cavity on the back of the derailleur body. A conventional nut won't fit.

I'm going by the local shop after work to scrounge through their junk drawer for old parts that maybe I can get to work on my $1000 bike that's less than a month old.

If you stripped that conical nut try substituting using an ordinary nut and a slightly longer pinch bolt. That may work.

The other bike shop in town went above and beyond and pulled the parts off a derailleur they had, and gave them to me for nothing.

When I told their mechanic about Shimano saying they didn't sell the part I needed he replied "Yeah that sounds about right."

Actually, they'll sell you the part. It just happens to have the rest of the DER attached.
