1. If it's 9-speed then it's a cassette, not a freewheel. They attach to the hub differently and require different (special) tools to remove.
2. A long cage rear derailleur may or may not work with a 34 tooth big cog. It depends on exactly what rear derailleur you have.
Grouch is correct. If you want lower gears, look for a 9 speed cassette with a larger cog. Or go smaller in the front with a compact or triple.
