cassette upgrade
I am building my first road bike and am trying to keep and use as many components as I can off a used bike I salvaged. My main question is will the shimano 105-6600 10 speed cassette fit (1) with my wheel set from my 7 speed system and (2) will the Rear Derailer work with the shimano 105 cassette I have ordered?--New to this and trying to learn.

Nope, sorry, I don't believe that the 7 speed hub is wide enough to accept that cassette, the derailleur will work if the cable pull ratio is correct, so assuming it's modern enough you're fine there, but you will need new shifters (with 10 clicks), a new cassette, and a new hub.

Most 7-speeds were freewheels, not cassettes so if that's true for you the 10-speed cassette is definitely out. 7-speed freewheels are still available though and if you've got a freewheel type hub that's your only option.

Most 7-speeds were indexed shifters on the downtube too, so your new derailleur will work but it probably won't index very well... can still use friction mode maybe.
