Triple Crankset 20/30/42
I really want this crankset, but does anyone know where it is available? I have googled and searched with no luck. Or any 20/30/42 crank with suare taper?

Hmmm...not sure if any cranks came with that particular set of chainrings. 4-arm spiders only go down to 22t so if you want to set one up you'll need an older 5-arm compact triple that uses 94mm/58mm bcd. A Shimano Deore XT from the early to mid 90's for example. Check out any of these Shimano part numbers:
FC-M737-I FC-M739-5arm FC-M563-I FC-M569-5arm FC-MC36 FC-MC36-S FC-MC34 FC-MC34-B |
You could build that combo with TA Carmina from Peter White

http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/carmina.asp A possible problem with that setup: triples tend not to shift well with a larger gap from middle to big than from small to middle. The reason for this is that the chain tends to catch on both middle and large when upshifting from the small chainring. Many times, you need to shift to the large chainring and then back to the middle to complete the shift. If it were my bike, I'd set it up with 20/32/42. |

This says it is a 44-32-22. A quick search on Shimano's site did not turn up anything.
