Differences in Shimano v brakes
My kid brought his girlfriend's bike over the other day to try and get it more nearly functional. It's an x-mart bike, and had v brakes that actually have some surface rust on them. I guess I didn't think anyone actually made steel ones. The rear seemed to be missing some part of the spring adjustment, so I thought I'd just get an inexpensive replacement. Looking at all the different Shimano models available, I'm just wondering what the differences are. The basic design seems really sturdy, and even a cheap brake of this design seems adequate. I've seen models with numbers like BR 530, BR 580, Br 770 -- these are just a few, and there doesn't seem to be that much differences in the prices. I eventually ordered an Shimano Acera rear brake -- okay, I think it was the cheapest. Just how much difference can there be in these models?

there not much different in them. they have a nicer finishes then other, they may move smoother but they all work the same. but they are better than what on the bike now.

just don't forget to tell your son's friend that the brakes really works and to be a little more careful with it initially... otherwise a surprise may turns into a nasty flip!!!
