Road bike stem question?
Please bear with me if I'm not using the correct terms for parts here...
What I want to do is raise up my drop bars on my road bike to get more upright position. What I can do now, is loosen a hex bolt that is vertical at the top of the stem, and pull up on the whole assembly. Then there is a marker for max height, just like with a bike seat post. Well this isnt high enough. When I look online for stems, they all look like the bolt to a post of some sort. I dont have that, mine is a one piece assemble that the drop bar is attached to.
So my question is, do I need to get a post of some sort that these new types of stems attach to, a spacer of some sort, or do they still make a longer one piece and I'm not looking in the right places.
Hope that was clearer than mud. Thanks!

That's right. You need an older style quill stem. Once you have reached the max height, you're out of options at that point and need to get a similar stem with a greater rise to it. Just google quill stems.
