Would I need a new front derailleur if...
My current crankset consists of 30/42/52 tooth chainrings. I'm interested in replacing it with a crankset which has 26/36/46 tooth chainrings. Should my current "road" derailleur work with these cranks, or would I need a "mountain" style derailleur? Thanks.

The road derailler will likely work just fine, if not perfectly, with the 26/36/46 crankset. If not, this might work better: https://www.universalcycles.com/shopp...7&category=529
If you have road indexed shifters, the MTB derailler won't work as the cable pull is different.

It shouldn't be a problem. I have two derailers designed for 52 outers on a 46 and a 48 outer. Neither has ever had an issue with shifting...either up or down. The Tiagra front works better for triples than any of its more expensive brothers due to narrower outer plates and more distance between the plates. It has far less rubbing issues than the others in more gear combinations.

Trek used to OEM supply an RX-100 road front derailleur on RSX bikes with 46/36/26 chainrings and they shifted just fine.
