Shifting
Hello fellow bike people of the world, I have recently found myself again and started riding. When I was in my 15th year of life I had my beloved MTB stolen and I was crushed but did not replace it due to the fact I was so close to my 16th Bday and my life as a driver. After becoming a driver I never looked back. Untill my 1st trip to the Netherlands where all I did was ride bike and something in me click I fell in love all over again even after having my 3 speed dutch bike break the shifter and have a crank arm fall off on me mid way to Amsterdam. Still my smile was big and I was enjoying it very much.
Since being back I have put 775kms on my Vintage road bike that I have completely rebuilt.
Now that you all know me a bit I am having a little problem my chain keeps jumping to the granny in the front and as I change gears in the rear it likes to skip a bit. Some gears wont change untill is I shift twice so then it jumps down two or up two depending which way I am shifting. I think but I am just learning it has to do with my cable tension. So can some spend a little time trying to help me shift better.
Thanks
Dustan Walker

Hi Dustan,
The answer does sound like adjustments.
What shifters and derailleurs do you have on the bike?
Browsing around the web site at www.sheldonbrown.com or the repair section at www.parktool.com could give you some helpful information as a starting point.

I have 105 10 speed shifters and deroe LX MTB derailures. What could be the best way to tune them and should pull the cables over using the adjuster screws.
