removing DA 7800 Brake cable
Ok I am trying to replace my DA 7800 brake hoods. Apparently I need to remove the brake cable IOT do this. I went to the the Park tool site and it shows that you need to move the brake lever/shifter inwards while pulling down on the brake lever IOT access the cable. This works OK, but unlike older brakes that I have worked on, I do not see a way to feed the tab at the end of the brake cable up and then back out the back of the brifter. Do I need to unhook the cable at the brake and feed it all the way through the brifter?

I would just snip off the nipple and push the cable out through the brifter. It's simple enough to do and it give you the opportunity to check the health of the cable.

just occured to me that if I undue the brake cable at the brake end, I will be able to slide the hood all the way down and the new hood back up...
Mark me down as moron of the day.

Nope.. just the brake cable... on DA you peel the hood off the back of the brifter so it then slides onto the brake cable. The shift cable does not come into play...until next year with 7900... hopefully they have re-thought the way the cables are attached inside the brifte or it could be a real PIA.
New Hudz white hoods... sorry about the crappy cell phone shot.
