rd m771 with no barrel adjuster

i'm replacing an xt rear derailer with a new rd m771 rear derailer. after installing it, i noticed no barrel adjuster and no way of installing an adjuster. am i missing something? there are no threads where an adjuster is to be installed. i don't know whether to send this back or find a modification for this problem. this isn't in the bike maintenance books. help!!!
thank you in advance.

Is there a barrel adjuster up at the shift lever? If so you really don't need a second one at the derailer. It's only a small convenience and makes two adjustment points for the same function instead of a simpler single adjustment point.

Jagwire makes a bunch of them. Some are in-line and some for the cable stops (called Mickeys).

They have to go on the cable housing side of the cable stop. But you would have figured that out.
