Grip Shift Max Problems

Hi

I own a Giant Rock bike. The gear changer (grip shift max) Keeps slipping apart and a piece of metal falls out. I have worked out how it goes back in but the 2 bits of plastic will not clip back together properly. So every time i change gear the piece of metal fall out again. I was wondering if anyone knows how to fit these two bits of plastic together.

It may be easier just to replace that shifter, as they are quite cheap; see this thread: https://www.bikeforums.net/bicycle-mechanics/460154-giant-cypress-twist-grip-shifter-problem.html

is it the left or right one ? if it the left one line the mark and the no.1 up together then push and it should snap back together.if it the right one line the mark up to the highest number 5,6 , 7, or 8 and again push and it too should snap together. if this does work then the shifter need replacing. there should be a spacer than goes between the shifter and the grips. the grips should keeps everything together for you .
