Longer 1” Seat Post

I have an 18” Del Sol LXi 3.0 which is an inexpensive 5 year old “comfort” bike. I’m 6 feet and even with the seat post an inch above its minimum insertion point I have too much bend in my knees at full extension when pedaling. It’s a suspension seat post and measures 11.5 inches. It is one inch in diameter, which from doing a little research is a hallmark of much older U.S. bikes and current low end comfort and mountain bikes.

I don’t care about having a suspension but I can’t find any 1” seat posts. Can anyone help with where to find a longer 1” seat post?

Thanks

Bikeman and other merchants carry 1"/25.4mm seatposts

Your post is about 292mm long. A 350mm seatpost would give you more leg extension

I don't agree that the 1" seatpost is a hallmark of older U.S. bikes. I had a very hard time finding one for one of my Peugeots. A Kalloy would be wrong on a vintage Peugeot. If you look at Sheldon's database, you'll see that 25.4 is a pretty rare size.

The 3 speed Raleighs used that size, but they were a steel pipe and clamp type.

Thanks very much. Didn't think of searching by mm instead of inches.

I just ordered a Pyramid 25.4 x 350 alloy seat post from Niagara Cycle works for less that $9. Is your seat post shimmed? My wife's comfort bike uses a 25.4 suspension seat post (very common size for suspension posts) that is shimmed to 29.2. If yours is shimmed, you should find a post that won't require its use.

It's a metric world. Sometimes. Some places. Don't ask me my weight in kilograms.
