Compressor hose with pressure guage?
 

Does any of you know of a compressor hose with a pressure guage ?

I made my own.

I bought an ordinary schrader tire filler that had a pressure gauge. I cut off the Schrader head and installed a Silca presta head with a hose clamp.

Any of the big shops that sell airtools will have the parts to put this together. You're looking for a female T fitting with 1/4 NPT threads all around, a pressure guage with 1/4 NPT stem and a male to male close nipple to fit the T to the female outlet on your compressor. And some teflon tape to seal all the threads.

You're not thinking of this as a way to see the pressure in your tire though are you?

Compressor hoses don't have pressure guages as part of them. The pressure guage is an accessory which you may purchase to go with your compressor and attached hose. Those that look like the ones at many service stations have an integral guage and schrader tire filling mechanism. As previous poster mantioned they are available at most any place carrying compressor accessories such as Home Depot or Harbor Freight etc.

good inflator gauges are expensive. Milton 500 series inflator gauges run close to that; those are the industry standard for auto and truck repair. They last until you run one over...

Oh, I don't doubt it. I treated myself to a chuck/hose/guage in armored rubber housing for checking the air pressures on my motorcycles a few years back. $45 once the dust settled. And I still have to use something else to fill them first. So it's not over the top for what it is. But for many of us, me included, it's over the top for how often we use something like that as a hobbyist.

This thing is called "Air Bob" and is available from any shop via QBP. Retail for this guy is actually more like $108. Bribe someone in the business (with beer, of course) to get you one for much less ;-)))

But ... Air Bob will inflate Schraeder or Presta. This gizmo really does pay for itself in a short time if you are inflating a lot of tires. Plus, you can get all of the little pieces/parts and rebuild it. About the only thing I ever do with floor pump these days is sell them ;-)))

the one i posted does both as well. you just unscrew the silca presta fitting.

i think it is great that some of the guys on here made their own. they look nice. i know it is not rocket sci and i could too. however, after you buy the parts (quality ones), you are probably looking at 25-30+ dollars.

the link i posted above is a good deal in my opinion for someone that doesn't want to make their own. those brass silca fitting aren't cheap. you get one complete pkg with the one i posted.

i have no affiliation with it....just to clarify. have not bought one yet, but plan to.

Oh, very good ;-)) It was just not obvious.

Of the lot I really like the one in Soil Sampler's post the best. It's sort of the same as MX's but it's more "inline" and compact.

But either of them with the flex line is nicer IMHO than the one in DMF's post just because you don't have a great big lump of filler and guage hanging off a poor little stem.

it's overpriced.

the one i posted is not that bad. the two examples you posted do not include a quality presta adapter. in addition, the schrader you posted is a push kind and not a screw kind. i kind of like the screw kind.

if you factor in buying these pieces, you are now talking close to 20-25 bucks. plus the one in my post looks to be made nicer. so i don't think it is that overpriced.

also factor in a couple gallons of gas driving to a couple hardware stores until you find what you need...

lastly, not sure what value you put on your personal time, but my hourly rate is pretty high. ;)

it's like headlights, some people like making their own and some like to buy titanium lupine betties

I'm a fan of the Prestaflator. Nice gauge. Solid easy to use chuck. quick release fitting to change back to whatever only $40

That "poor little stem" is over an inch in diameter. It makes the thing solid and easy to handle, and you don't have to keep chasing the other end of some secondary hose.

The pic is a link (click on it). Street price is around $80. How much less can you get it for via bribery?

I've been using an old air chuck with a gauge and a presta to schrader adapter.. Maybe I'll invest in something better soon.
