replacing a part of my brake lever
hi all, i'm following up on an earlier question about replacing the brake lever. if you'll see in the picture attached, this little plastic tab on my shimano's is broken, or at least not fitting into place. while this seems trivial, its a) annoying as hell and b) squeezing my hands when i push hard on the brake. any idea on how to replace this specific little part or how to get the great plastic back under the rubber hoods??

I can't tell from the pic what I'm looking at. What model is the brake lever?

you could try sanding it, lift the hood and pull it over the tab. goes to you lbs and they should be able to order one for you form shmanio or their suppliers.

DMF: sorry, the brakes are shimano BLR-400 aerobrake levers.
bikeman: my LBS says they come only with ordering whole new levers. the levers work, and i know its silly functionally speaking, but they squeeze on my hands and they affect the leverage of the brakes, i want to fix them in a differnet way...

Take it all apart and clean really well. Acetone (nail-polish remover) does a good job of degreasing small bike parts. Use some 2-part plastic epoxy to glue the part in place.
Are those the correct hoods for those levers?

Your LBS is right, they are not avaible as spareparts. You will need new brakelevers.
