brake pad rubbing against wheel in idle position
Hi all,
I just recently bought a Trek 2.1 a couple days ago, and just got a rock kicked up into my brake pad. So I took the wheel off by opening up the brakes using the tension release on the brake chord. I took the rock out of the brake pad, and put the wheel back on and closed the tension lever on the brake pads again.
The problem that I'm having now is if I use the front brakes, and then release the brakes the right brake pad (facing forward sitting on the bike) is left in a position where it is rubbing against the wheel. I have to reach down and press against the left side of the complete brake mechanism to get it to stop rubbing.
How do I get the pads to be centered around the wheel when they are idle so I do not have to keep reaching down and readjusting?
Thanks!
George

adjust the nuts, check your owners manual for instructions.

to give you a better picture of what i'm seeing, it looks like when i press the front brake, the left pad will move in to cause the tension, but the right pad doesn't need to move because its already sitting up against the wheel.

It sounds like the brake caliper might be loose. If you bought the bike from a shop, take it back for adjustment or you can tighten the main bolt yourself.
