Aero brake lever problem

So last weekend I installed a new drop bar with Tektro RL520 Aero brake levers. Everything went on like normal. All was good. I rode home for lunch, and when I came back out to my bike one of the levers was pointing almost straight out. I found the aluminum pill-looking piece on the ground nearby and put it back in, but now it doesn't want to stay. The one in the other handle is snug, but this one just moves around and falls out.

What went wrong? Is there an easy fix that I am missing?

My digital camera is dead, so I'll dig up a picture from google as a reference...

I quickly outlined the piece in question. Any help would be great

tektro designed that pin as a quick-release option at the lever for road brake calipers that didn't already have it. I've never heard of them falling out. If the install was recent I'd check your warranty info on those levers. You may be able to get them exchanged.

Well I set aside some time on my lunch break to go out and take a little more in-depth look at my issue, and I found the problem.....

The quick release "button" is an aluminum cylinder with two notches in it, which can slide back and forth, or come completely out to gain access to the adjusting screw underneath. There is also a black plastic tube of sorts that the afore mentioned "button" slides into within the lever. This tube had fallen down into the lever, and then proceeded to be crushed every time I applied the brakes. It is this tube that the quick release button clicks into, and it is what holds it in place. I now need one. Is this a universal piece that I can pick up at the LBS? Or is this something I'd need to get at a Tektro authorized dealer? Tektro's website is down, so I can't look there for parts. I emailed them, but the email kicked back saying "brakes@tektro.com" (the email address on the box ) does not exist... Apparently their exchange server is down too...

Anyone know if I can pick up the little plastic piece anywhere? Am I going to need to order another set of levers?
