Crank-extractor threads and dust caps on some Campy square-taper cranks. I have a couple of the corresponding LH-thread extractor tools, they see action once every few years.

Air and oxygen gauges use right hand threads. Acetelene and other gases use left-hand threads on the regulators.

shimano bar-end shifters are right hand threaded, BUT, you screw them in from the backside, which makes them loosen with clockwise turns.
same with spoke nipples from the hub side.

Yeah, the worst part of it is that people are enjoying reading and adding to the thread! How dare they!!!!11

I believe nuts holding the mechanism together inside Rapidfire shifters is LH threaded.

I thought it was only one of them... the locknut or the cone. I can't remember which... although I defer to your confidence on the issue.

Same thing for the incandescent bulbs on NYC subway cars, for the same reason.

Sorry, these are right hand threaded. They have to be, since they attach to the end of a long RH screw.

+1 Although I believe turnbuckles were mentioned in this thread's past life.

"The fragrant honeysuckle spirals clockwise to the sun,
And many other creepers do the same.
But some climb anti-clockwise, the bindweed does for one,
Or Convolvulus, to give her proper name."

"Mis-alliance", Flanders & Swann.

Rooted on each side of a door, the two plants fall in love but because their helices are of opposite "hand" they are unable to consummate their relationship and have to deal with disapproval from their respective families. In one iteration of the refrain we hear, "Said the right-hand-thread honeysuckle to the left-hand-thread bindweed..."

"Mis-alliance", Flanders & Swan.
It is so cool to see somebody on this list who knows (and no doubt loves) Flanders & Swann! For the rest of you, they are two (deceased) English writer/performers who wrote revues for the London stage after WW2. They eventually wrote and performed a two-man revue, "At the Drop of a Hat", which had a muscular run in London, then toured Europe & North America. To quote Michael Flanders, "The purpose of satire... is to strip off the veneer of comforting illusion and cozy half-truth. Our job, as I see it, is to put it back again".

Considering the offspring, the parents of the unfortunate vines intone,

"Poor little sucker, how will it learn,
"When it is climbing, which way to turn,
"Right, left, what a disgrace:
"Or it may go straight up and fall flat on its face!"

Two of the funniest and most charming men who ever graced a stage. Glad to see they aren't forgotten.

Just occurred to me...

We can write a whole entire book on just this topic alone.

"The World of Left-Handed Threads"
