Help with mystery re: Ultegra Flight Deck levers

I guess a mechanic would be most likely to help me with this. I just bought a 1998 or1999 Litespeed equipped with Ultegra components. The brifters are different looking. I mean one looks newer than the other, in term of coloration and markings. Both previous owners are clueless as to how this came to be, and hadn't even noticed the difference. I'm wondering if maybe the bike was originally built this way, after reading some references to Flight Deck compatible levers. Like maybe the Flight Deck lever was used for a particular purpose on the right lever and not on the left. I first thought that the right lever was just a newer replacement, due to damage or malfunction. Anyone care to speculate? I've attached some pics. Gary

Hi,
I think that the left brifter is a ST-6500 a non-flight deck compatible and the right is a newer ST-6510, flight deck compatible. The right brifter was probably replaced, due to mal****ion or crash.
