7 speed downtube shifter to thumbie/trigger conversion?
I just picked up a Giant Perigee, 1994 I think, with Shimano indexed 7 speed downtube shifters and Shimano 300 rear mech. I am converting it to a flar bar 1x7 commuter. Will any Shimano 7 speed thumbshifter or trigger set work with this setup? Specifically I have thumbies from an old Bridgestone, Acera I think.
Thanks.
Thanks.

For the rear shifting (all you are concerned about) any 7-speed Shimano indexed shifter will work with any index-compatible Shimano rear derailleur. Obligatory caveat: pre-9-speed Dura Ace is the exception. Not your problem.
