I expect the shift cable tension need tweaking. After 1500 miles the cables will have bedded in and, in effect, be slightly longer than when first installed. Tightening the cable slightly should solve the problem. Turn the barrel adjuster on the rear derailleur counterclockwise about 1/2 turn and see if this fixes it.

Also, you should shift while still turning the crank. Shifting while stationary will produce a "jump" when you first turn the pedals afterward.

Do you continue to pedal while slowing down, and after downshifting? I also downshift when I approach a stop, and I pedal lightly while doing that to ensure that the shift actually happens. Otherwise, the shift happens when I start up again, and that's never fun.

You should be able to feel the shift and know that it's happened.

if its not a frozen link in the chain and if you on't need to replace that chain, check for worn teeth on you rear cogs and front chainrings. both pulley cog qheels in good shape? thats where id start.
