Question about acquiring components
Greetings forum.
I've been contemplating acquiring some components piecemeal to build up a LHT or Cross Check at some point in the future. I keep an eye on craigslist and on various sales here and there and have a question for the esteemed forum.
I have found a set of ultegra 6600 components for sale on CL with "under 300 miles" on them. They are currently not attached to a bike, and look to be a fair price. The sale is for brifters, front and rear derailleurs, and front and rear brakes.
What kinds of things should I look for in the components to verify the condition? The seller is not stating they are brand new, except one part. Any tips are appreciated.

rating if it is ebay. Craigs list not familiar but expect that it is simply take a chance. I have had mixed success with second hand components. Might be better to try and get a working bike second hand and upgrate. Perhaps others have had no problems with components but in US you should be able to pick up sales in Performance and Nashbar for good price
Hope this is of some help

Does the seller seem knowledgeable about bike parts? This more like a negative test - I wouldn't buy from an idiot in bike stuff, but just because he or she knows doesn't mean they are a good and reliable.
