8 speed to 9 speed (MTB) Crank question

When converting to 9 speed from 8 speed, I know the general consensus is that you don't need to change the chainrings on the crank. Any issue with dropping the chain between the rings though due to the difference in chain widths?? I'd rather just change it all if it's going to be tempermental.... although finding a triple with a 48t big ring should be fun.

Thanks.

There should be no problem since the difference is minimal at most.
