Cutting down Vision Pro Integrated aero bars, bad idea?

Cutting down Vision Pro Integrated aero bars, bad idea?
I was thinking about getting a Vision Pro integrated aero bar set. I really like the sloping wings but I hate the up turn at the end of the extensions. I found a really good deal on the version with 290mm extensions, which is far too long for me. So I was thinking of getting them and then cutting down the extensions before the up turn, thus solving both problems. The extensions are alloy so I figured it won't be a problem.
Anyone have advice? Is this a really bad idea?

I can't imagine any way sawing the ends of those extensions will harm the bars structurally, but might make the bars less comfortable to ride on the ends of the wings... in which case you might as well mount some clipons to and old set of drop abrs and cut off the drops.
Anyhow, what exactly do you 'hate' about the upturned extensions? This might be an issue you should take care of with your therapist rather than your hacksaw.

I re-read your post and I misunderstood before... you want to cut the ends of the aero bar extensions off, not the handles on the sides...
Still I don't see a problem with cutting them, except the extensions are there to give you something to hold on to... having the bars terminate before going upward at all might put your wrists at an uncomfortable angle.... Maybe you have very limp wrists, though.
A better solution might be to get bars that fit you in the first place... a deal is not a deal if it's a deal on something you can't use.

No, I don't think it's a bad idea. As long as they are still long enough, or as long as you can live with any small upturned section that remains.
I have a pair of small Syntace clip-ons on my bike and I don't like the length of the upturned section - I don't mind the angle - I just think it's too long. I also have a pair of mediums laying on the shelf that I have been thinking of cutting down to the correct length for me thus reducing the length of the upturned section.

Thanks, I ended up getting a set of Easton Attack TT bars. I ended up spending roughly twice what the Vision bars would have cost me (but even with the alloy stem I'm using they are less than half the weight) I've taken em out for one ride and they are great, the 250mm extensions fit me perfectly.
I figured cutting down the extensions on the Vision bars was no problem, but a guy at my LBS kept trying to tell me it would be really bad for them. He just wanted me to order a custom set. Anyways, thanks for the input.
